Keynote Speakers
Dr Mitchell Dul

Dr. Dul joined the University Eye Centre in 1999. He began his career at the Optometric Centre of Fullerton and at the Montrose, NY Veterans Administration hospital as well as in private practice in Peekskill, NY in 1986. Dr. Dul has also served as a clinical instructor at the Illinois College of Optometry, the New England College of Optometry and the Indiana University College of Optometry. He is currently a professor at SUNY Optometry. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and completed his residency in hospital based optometry at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt VA Hospital. His research interests focus mostly on glaucoma. |
Professor Konrad Pesudovs

Professor Pesudovs is the Chair of Optometry and Vision Science at Flinders University in Adelaide. He graduated as an optometrist from the University of Melbourne (1990) and spent two years in private practice before joining Ophthalmology at Flinders University where he completed a PhD in 2000. Professor Pesudovs won an National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Fellowship to undertake post-doctoral training in the UK and the US and In 2004, he returned to Ophthalmology at Flinders University as a NHMRC funded Clinical Research Fellow. His areas of research interest are ophthalmic outcomes research incorporating optical, visual and patient-reported outcome measurement. During his career he has received over $9million in competitive grant funding and published over 150 papers. In 2009, Professor Pesudovs was appointed Foundation Chair of Optometry and Vision Science within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. In this role he is responsible for the Optometry double degree including its accreditation, a $6 million building program including an Optometry Clinic, developing an 80 partner clinical placement network and a multi-million dollar research program. |
Kathleen Watt

Kathleen is the Clinic Director at the UNSW Optometry Clinic and Education Officer for the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania. She is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate investigating binocular vision with Ortho-K lenses. Her supervisors are world leaders in Binocular Vision Professor Bruce Evans and Ortho-K Professor Helen Swarbrick. She has diverse research interest with infection with Ortho-K lenses, the effects of Yoked Prism on binocular vision, patient satisfaction and dry eye. In her role as Clinic Director she maintains interest in research, teaching and patient care. |

The 2016 NZAO Conference is being held at the new Novotel Hobson in New Plymouth. Accommodation will be available at the conference location; however, spaces are limited so we have also arranged accommodation with Plymouth International and Auto Lodge Motor Inn who are located nearby.
